Rick was born in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1944 and traveled throughout Canada and Europe while growing up. He now resides in Calgary, Alberta. He is a self-taught artist who enjoys creating works in oils, acrylics and pastels, as well as his main love; watercolours. Rick believes that only by being proficient in all media will he be able to develop further as an artist. For as long as he can remember, he has shown a desire to express himself with pictures, selling his first painting at age 13. While working as an oil industry consultant, Rick has sought the balance he needs by studying and painting on weekends and holidays. He looks forward to being able to devote more of his time to art in the coming years. Rick enjoys conveying his vision of those special places in the foothills and Rockies where the ever changing weather conditions provide infinite possibilities for new paintings. He is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and has participated in several group shows where he has won awards for his work.
