James E. Wood
Biography
James E. Wood was born in 1974 in Kelowna, British Columbia. James moved to the Ghost River area northwest of Cochrane in 1984 where he could always be found exploring the foothills. In 1996 he moved to Port McNeill on northern Vancouver Island where he met his wife Amanda and lived for ten years. James currently resides in Calgary, Alberta. He is a third-generation artist: his father was Karl E. Wood and his grandfather was Robert E. Wood. James took lessons from his brother Robert E. Wood and has been pursuing his artwork since 2004.
James finds that his love of nature is a major force in the creation of his artwork, and he spends considerable time outdoors in various pursuits including hiking, fishing, camping and fossil hunting. His favourite areas include the foothills and Alberta Badlands.
In his work, James pursues a traditional, representational approach to his landscape subjects and works exclusively in oils. Gainsborough Galleries is proud to represent the work of James Wood.
