Born under the sign of Capricorn in 1932, Claude Simard, a French Canadian, was a street painter: all of his paintings were created outside, "on the spot". He loved to paint the Quebec countryside, backyards, alleys, street corners and typical villages around the country. His work remains distinctively Canadian.
Claude participated in many exhibits throughtout the province of Quebec. He painted for pleasure and had been painting for the last twenty years of his life.
Vibrant and alive, his paintings reflected his love of people and his "joie de vivre".
Claude passed away in September, 2005. Gainsborough Galleries is proud to continue representing the works of Claude Simard.
