Sarah Jones is a Saint John-based visual artist, working with the palette knife in oil and mixed media. Her work looks at how industrial or functional urban spaces coexist/collide with domestic spaces. The strong industrial, urban and blue-collar heritage of her hometown of Saint John provides the inspiration and material for this investigation.
Sarah spent the summer of 2005 studying art in Rome, fostering a love of Italian art and architecture, particularly for the work of Michelangelo, Caravaggio and Bernini. Sarah recently graduated from Queen’s University with a Master of Arts degree in Art History and frequently offers art history courses in partnership with the Saint John Arts Centre.
Sarah is most passionate about three things in life: the culture of Saint John; really cool bits of art history; and, most of all, her little red Vespa.
