André Turenne was born in Granby, Quebec, in 1941. He was a student at l'Institut de Technologie de Montréal, l'École des Beaux-Arts de Montréal, l'Université de Sherbrooke and l'Université du Québec à Montréal. He was a teacher from 1966 to 1977. He has been part of many exhibitions throughout Québec since 1972 and his work is in collections abroad, including France, Japan and the United States. His pictures are constructed following a rational mode from the point of view of the form as well as color. Perspective is strictly subjected to the geometrical composition of the picture. In his landscapes, the aerial perspective is defined by the chromatic elements of the composition. Carefully analyzing his subjects, he removes all superfluous details from his compositions resulting in a clear vision, always close to nature.
