Ever since she was a young girl, Lois has enjoyed art in all its forms. Her favourite subjects are landscapes and close-ups of nature. In her paintings she hopes to bring a little bit of the outdoors to people who do not have the chance to walk in the country. She hopes they will "step" into her paintings and find a bringht and cheerful place.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada in 1943, Lois Bauman has taken the wild landscape around her and re-interpreted it through her art. Her oil paintings, rendered in an impressionistic style using loose brush strokes in brilliant colors, depict the landscapes of Canada.
Lois has studied the art of oil painting at Seattle Pacific University, the University of Calgary, the Alberta College of Art and Design, and at Red Deer College. She is presently a signature member of the Alberta Society of Artists, an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, an Associate member of Oil Painters of America, and a member of the Leighton Art Foundation. As well, she is a founding member and past president of the Airdrie Artists' Guild.
Her highly collectable paintings can be found in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, England, Wales and the United States.
Lois has become an award-winning artist, with first place showings at the Big Country Games Regional Artists’ Competition (1989), and at various other local shows in 1989, 1990 and 1993. She won the 1st Place Jurors’ Choice award at the F.C.A. Bankers Hall Juried Show in 1996. Her art has also been represented in juried shows at zonal, provincial and international level.
